KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered the release of industrialist Shankarlal Agrawal on Rs 1 million bail in a banking offence case.
A joint bench of Justices Balkrishna Dhakal and Nripadhwaj Niraula overturned the Patan High Court’s earlier order to keep Agrawal in custody pending trial and ordered his release on bail.
Agrawal was released after depositing Rs 1 million in cash or an equivalent bank guarantee.
Agrawal, chairman of Shanker Group, had moved the Supreme Court challenging the high court’s order to remand him in custody for trial.
