Society needs ethics, good conduct and honesty more than technology: President

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that with the development of modern technology society needs ethics, good conduct and honesty.

Addressing the Hem Bahadur Malla Award distribution ceremony organized by the Public Administration Association of Nepal (PAAN) here today, he said that although technology can be borrowed and used from others moral conduct, ethics and honesty are those associated with the conscience of the individual. “The basis of modern administration is ethical and responsible leadership,” President Paudel said. “I think that today our society needs those ethics, moral conduct and honesty a little more.”

He said that artificial intelligence, digital governance, globalization and new economic structures are changing the traditional practices of administration and management. However, some values never become old i.e. honesty, discipline, responsibility, ethics, humanity and commitment to the public interest.

President Paudel said that it is a matter of happiness that the Public Administration Association of Nepal and the Salt Trading Corporation are continuing the felicitation program to commemorate the contribution of late Hem Bahadur Malla, who established himself as a successful administrator and manager in the country.

He also congratulated Dr Ramkantha Makju Shrestha and Rameshwor Prasad Khanal, who were honoured with the Hem Bahadur Malla Honour, and said that they were honoured in appreciation of their dedication to public service and contribution to nation-building.
