SOLUKHUMBU: The Solududhkunda municipality has decided to provide Rs 50,000 in cash relief to each family of those missing following the Bhote Koshi river flood in Rasuwa. The municipality will distribute a total of Rs 2.6 million to the families of the 52 missing individuals from Solukhumbu.
Mayor Namgel Jangbu Sherpa stated that the decision was made by the municipal executive committee. According to the Solukhumbu District Police Office, 52 residents of Solukhumbu, who were working in the tourism and construction sectors, went missing after the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi river on Aug. 26.
The Solukhumbu District Administration Office reported that families of 49 of the missing individuals have already provided DNA samples for identification. Despite the passage of time, the status of the missing persons remains unconfirmed. The municipality decided to provide the relief to support the families who are currently waiting for news regarding the search and rescue efforts for their relatives.
