SALYAN: A student died after being struck by a landslide along the Aringale Phedi section of the Rapti Highway, which connects Dang and Salyan districts.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Patali of the Salyan District Police Office identified the deceased as Madan Pun, a grade 12 student at Great Araniko English Secondary School in Tulsipur, Dang.
The incident occurred on Monday night while the student was traveling home to Triveni Rural Municipality-3 in Salyan for a holiday. According to police, Pun sustained critical injuries in the landslide and died on the way while being transported to Surkhet for medical treatment.
Another individual, 18-year-old Sunil Thapa from the same ward, was also injured in the landslide. He sustained injuries to his left arm and leg and is currently undergoing treatment at the Kantipur Community Hospital in Srinagar.
