KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah resigned from his post on Thursday, ending his tenure amid uncertainty over securing a majority in the provincial assembly.
Shah announced his resignation while addressing the provincial assembly on Thursday. He subsequently reached the office of Province Chief Nazir Miya and formally submitted his resignation.
Shah had been preparing to seek a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly. However, after it became clear that he would not be able to secure the required majority, he decided to step down.
Following Shah’s resignation, Province Chief Miya will initiate the constitutional process to form a new provincial government.
The resignation has opened the way for a new government formation process in Sudurpaschim Province.
