Sudurpaschim CM Bhatt preparing to seek vote of confidence

DHANGADHI: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Khagaraj Bhatt is preparing to seek a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly on Wednesday following discussions held at his official residence on Monday.

A meeting of the CPN-UML parliamentary party is expected to be held at 2 pm Tuesday to discuss the confidence vote and other issues related to the provincial government.

A provincial assembly member involved in discussions with the chief minister said the parliamentary party meeting would finalise preparations for Bhatt to seek the vote the following day.

Bhatt, who was appointed chief minister on Friday, is also preparing to expand his Cabinet immediately after securing the confidence vote.

Three ministers and one state minister from the CPN-UML have already been appointed. The party is preparing to appoint three additional ministers and two more state ministers to complete the provincial Cabinet.

Bhatt held a joint discussion on the Cabinet formation and confidence vote with CPN-UML parliamentary party leader and party provincial in-charge Bhanubhakta Joshi.

Earlier, provincial coordinator Hari Chaudhary, leader Ranjita Shrestha, Joshi and Bhatt had also discussed the government’s confidence vote and the next steps for the provincial administration.
