KATHMANDU: Sudurpashchim Provincial Assembly member Bir Bahadur Thapa has submitted his resignation from his position.

Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari confirmed that Thapa handed him his resignation letter.

Speaking to Ratopati on Wednesday, Speaker Bhandari stated that Thapa submitted the letter on Tuesday. However, the resignation has not yet been accepted.

‘He submitted the resignation letter yesterday. But it has not been accepted, and I am in consultation on what to do next,’ Bhandari said.

Reports indicate that Thapa resigned due to dissatisfaction with the budget. Thapa, who was elected as a member of the provincial assembly from the CPN-UML, previously served as the Minister of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives for the Sudurpashchim provincial government. Following the submission of his resignation, Thapa’s mobile phone has been switched off.
