SUNSARI: The District Administration Office in Sunsari has imposed an indefinite curfew in sensitive areas of the district following the tense situation created by the Kaptanganj incident.
As the situation continued to deteriorate, the administration issued the order to maintain peace and security. The curfew came into effect from 3:30 pm on Tuesday and will remain in force until further notice.
According to the notice signed by Chief District Officer Ishwori Prasad Aryal, the curfew has been imposed under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028.
The restricted area covers the stretch from Pakali Chowk in the east to the Koshi Barrage bridge in the west, including areas extending 200 meters north and south of the Mahendra Highway, as well as the entire Inaruwa market area.
During the curfew period, all movement within the designated areas has been prohibited. The administration has also banned all forms of gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, public meetings, assemblies, and sit-ins.
The District Administration Office has urged the public to cooperate in maintaining peace and security and to comply fully with the curfew order.
