KATHMANDU: A new suspension bridge has been constructed over the Myagdi river, connecting Kausibot of Dhaulagiri rural municipality-7 and Bansbot of ward-4. The 303-meter-long bridge was built by the federal government’s Suspension Bridge Division, Kathmandu.
Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality Chairman Prem Prasad Pun stated that the infrastructure benefits residents of Hila Pokhari, Bansbot, Khorbang, Solwang, Khara, Khamla, Chhahari, Khiwang, Shiwang, Takam, and Kafaldada. The bridge has significantly eased the marketing of bananas produced by farmers in Bansbot.
The construction contract was awarded to Ramkrishna-Somras JV for Rs 16.41 million in June 2025, with an 18-month completion deadline. The project was finished on schedule, and the bridge opened for public use this month. Construction company representative Pravin Sapkota confirmed that the work was completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Local resident Rajkumar Koirala noted that the bridge has reduced travel time between the two points from one hour to just five minutes. Residents also expect the structure to contribute to the development of the area as a tourist destination.
Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality previously completed two other suspension bridges exceeding 300 meters in length. With this addition, the total number of suspension bridges longer than 300 meters in Myagdi has reached seven. Similar large-scale bridges have already been constructed in Raghuganga, Malika, Beni municipality, and Annapurna rural municipality.
