DAMAULI: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Tanahun Distribution Centre has expanded electricity services to 1,895 households across the district during the fiscal year 2082/83. According to engineer Dil Bahadur Ale, the centre prioritized reaching underserved areas and new settlements to bring them under the national grid.
With this expansion, the total number of customers under the distribution centre has reached 82,249. This includes 28,829 customers in the Damauli office, 27,417 in Khairenitar, 12,156 in Dumre, 5,920 in Aabukhaireni, 2,615 in Tharpu, and 5,312 in Duipiple. The centre serves all 10 local levels of Tanahun, along with parts of Kaski, Lamjung, and Nawalpur districts.
The expansion is expected to support not only domestic use but also agriculture, businesses, and local production activities. During the 2082/83 fiscal year, the centre sold over 877.6 million units of electricity, generating revenue of Rs 1.01 billion. The infrastructure currently includes six substations, 30 11 kV feeders, and 673 transformers. The centre continues to focus on the maintenance, upgrading, and strengthening of 11/0.4 kV lines to ensure reliable and quality power supply for consumers.
