SANKHUWASABHA: A 36-year-old school teacher was shot dead in Makalu Rural Municipality-1, Chirkhang, in Sankhuwasabha district on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Narkubir Khambu Rai, a teacher at Kalika Basic School located in Chirkhang, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Prasad Mainali of the District Police Office.
Rai, who resided at the school premises, was shot after stepping outside to wash his hands following dinner, according to details provided to police by fellow teacher Tika Maya Rai.
Following the incident, a police team led by Police Inspector Meghraj Aryal from the District Police Office, along with a team from the Area Police Office in Hedangnagadhi, dispatched to the crime scene.
Police have initiated a full investigation into the shooting.
