KATHMANDU: Emphasis has been laid on prioritizing technical preparations, institutional capacity development, cyber security and inter-bodies coordination to implement internet-based electronic voting.
At a programme organised by the Election Commission, Chief Election Commissioner Man Bahadur Karki stressed on required technology, human resources and institutional capacity development for the implementation of internet-based voting system.
He pointed out the need of cyber security for the reliability of the system and its safe operation as well as effective coordination among concerned government agencies for this purpose.
Likewise, Election Commissioner Dr Rajeev Subba underlined that knowledge related to information technology, skill, human resources and skill mapping of technical capacity are also necessary at government agencies not only in the EC while moving ahead for the implementation of internet voting system in Nepal in future.
It is necessary to identify expertise and skill available in the areas of digital identification, voter authentication, data exchange, cyber security, system development, infrastructure and operations as internet voting is the matter related with multidimensional and inter agencies, he opined.
Subba further said skill mapping would provide a basis to identify and utilize required human technical human resources, expertise and institutional capacity.
Experts participated from Netherlands, Estonia, Panama, London and Bosnia shared about the Information about the issues related to technical structure, security and operation of internet voting.
