KATHMANDU: A total of 13 bodies swept away by devastating floods and landslides in Nepal, including the Bhote Koshi river flood, have been recovered from rivers along the Nepal-India border, according to Indian media reports.
The bodies floated into Indian territory via rivers flowing through the Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts of Uttar Pradesh state, where they were gathered by local citizens and the Indian administration.
Indian authorities completed post-mortem examinations and required legal procedures for the recovered bodies before notifying the Nepal Police and concerned official bodies for identification. Recently, Indian officials handed over four of the recovered bodies from the Maharajganj border location to the Nepal Police in West Nawalparasi district.
