KATHMANDU: Financial closure has been achieved for the 22.50 MW Jaldigad hydropower project located in Aathbiskot Municipality of Rukum West.
A consortium of three banks, led by Rastriya Banijya Bank, will provide a loan investment of Rs 3.36 billion for the project.
The remaining Rs 1.2371 billion of the total cost will be covered by equity investment from the promoters. The agreement was signed by Khagendra Neupane, chairman of Shangrila Hydropower, and Devendra Raman Khanal, chief executive officer of Rastriya Banijya Bank.
The project, to be built on the Jaldigad River, is projected to generate 133.45 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.
According to the company’s managing director, Krishna Prasad Ghimire, the construction period for the project is set at 33 months. Most of the preparatory work, including land acquisition, has already been completed.
Shangrila Hydropower previously developed and commissioned the 4.55 MW Bikas Hydropower project in Gorkha, which was completed six months ahead of schedule.
The same group is currently constructing the 4.6 MW Budhigandaki hydropower project in Gorkha, which aims to begin power generation within the next six months.
