Tokha-Chhahare road to be closed in night

NUWAKOT: The Nuwakot District Administration Office has decided to close the Tokha-Chhahare road section in night following increase in the frequency of landslips and mudslide triggered by rain.

According to Chief District Officer of Nuwakot district, Shambhu Prasad Regmi, the main road connecting Dhading and the Rasuwa Gadhi border with China via Nuwakot has been closed to traffic every day from 10pm to 5 am because of increased landslide risks.

Vehicular traffic has been suspended on this road section at night except for essential ones due to increased risks of landslides, mudslides, and rock fall and to ensure passenger safety.

There is increased risk of landslide, mudslide and rock fall on the Tokha–Chhare road section in Ghattekhola at Shivpuri Rural Municipality–8.

This rule, which came into effect on the night of August 17, will remain in place until further notice. Chief District Officer Regmi said that security personnel will be deployed in high-risk areas, and emergency vehicles like ambulances will be allowed to operate.

It is stated that one can contact the District Police Office at 100, the Armed Police Force at 1114, and the District Emergency Operation Center at 1234 for disaster-related information and assistance.
