KATHMANDU: The tourist destination of Bandipur in Tanahu has seen a significant rise in domestic visitors during the long holiday break between the Dashain and Tihar festivals.
The influx of tourists traveling with family and friends has increased activity across the local market and hotels.
Former chairman of the Bandipur Tourism Development Committee, Baish Bahadur Gurung, stated that the holiday period has boosted domestic tourism, making the town an accessible destination for short trips.
He added that the ‘Visit Bandipur 2025’ campaign has also helped attract international visitors. The town’s traditional architecture, stone-paved streets, peaceful environment and views of the mountain ranges remain its primary attractions.
Raju Baniya, former chairman of the Bandipur Community Homestay, noted that visitors are drawn to the experience of exploring old alleys, tasting local cuisine and understanding the lifestyle of the historic settlement.
With the start of the tourist season, the number of international arrivals is also increasing. Bandipur Rural Municipality Chairman Surendra Bahadur Thapa reported that popular sites such as the Khadgadevi Temple, Thanimai, Raniban, Ramkot and the Siddha Cave have also seen a surge in footfall.
The rural municipality continues to promote the area by connecting its natural beauty, traditional culture and rural lifestyle to tourism.
“The appeal of Bandipur is not limited to the beauty of the market or the mountain views; the local culture, rural lifestyle and traditional way of life also entice tourists,” Thapa said.
