KATHMANDU: Traffic movement on the Prithvi Highway has been disrupted due to road subsidence and landslides at various locations in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, Chitwan, caused by continuous rainfall.
The Mugling-Mauwakhola section in Chitwan is currently operating with one-way traffic, while the Dhading section has not yet fully resumed operations.
In Dharapani, Ichchhakamana-4, the road has subsided further, allowing only small vehicles to pass through on a one-way basis. The ongoing rainfall has exacerbated the road subsidence, making travel in the area risky.
Meanwhile, a landslide near Simaldhara, close to Mugling in Ichchhakamana-5, has also restricted traffic to one-way. Continuous falling rocks at the landslide site are hindering debris clearance efforts. As both road subsidence and landslides persist, operating vehicles on the Prithvi Highway has become hazardous. Concerned authorities have stated that they are managing traffic with caution while monitoring the road conditions.
