KATHMANDU: Roads have been obstructed in several places of the country due to flooding, landslides, deposition of debris and erosion by rivers following rains.

According to police, different road sections have been affected due to this in Kavrepalanchok, Sindhuli, Makawanpur, Nuwakot, Ilam, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa and Rukum West as of 10 am today.

Due to the potential risk of flooding on the BP Highway running through Kavrepalanchok via Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunje Bensi–Sindhuli, all vehicular movement has been stopped from 6:00pm to 4:00am. However, vehicles will be allowed to operate from 4:00am to 6:00pm.

Similarly, due to the rain, operation of all types of vehicles has been prohibited on the Kanti Lokpath in Makawanpur from 5:00pm to 5:00am.

Movement of public and private vehicles, except for vehicles on essential services, has been banned from 10:00pm to 5:00 am on the Tokha-Chhahare road section in Nuwakot.

The police have reported that the Mechi Highway in Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality-9, has been completely blocked due to the rain. Vehicles cannot pass because the road is muddy, and it has been mentioned that there is an alternative route at that place.

The road on the Araniko Highway in Liping Bazaar, Bhotechaur-2, Sindhupalchok, has been completely blocked due to a landslide along with debris and stones deposited by the Khahare River on August 21.

Similarly, the Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesi road section in Rasuwa’s Uttar Gaya Rural Municipality–5 Khalte has been completely blocked after the Trishuli River eroded the road from below.

The Jajarkot-Dolpa road section of the Bheri Corridor in Rukum West’s Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rijegad Khola, is completely blocked after stones and soil mixed with debris fell onto the road.

Nepal Police has advised taking precaution when traveling on these roads as they are getting blocked and risks are increasing due to the rain.
