HETAUDA: Following increased traffic congestion on the Hetauda–Kathmandu road section, local authorities have implemented a new one-way routing system for small passenger vehicles starting today.
Under the new traffic management plan, small passenger vehicles with a capacity of fewer than 14 seats traveling from Hetauda to Kathmandu will operate via the Bhimphedi–Kulekhani–Sisneri–Dakshinkali route.
Conversely, vehicles heading to Hetauda from Kathmandu must travel via the Pharping–Fakhel–Kulekhani–Bhimphedi route.
Santosh Subedi, Administrative Officer at the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, stated that freight carriers and large passenger vehicles traveling to Kathmandu are required to use the Tribhuvan Highway, while those returning to Hetauda must operate along the Kanti Highway.
The rerouting decision comes after a landslide blocked the Prithvi Highway at Krishnabhir in Dhading, diverting a heavy volume of traffic through the Hetauda routes.
Local officials expect the temporary one-way system to minimize traffic jams and prevent prolonged delays along these alternative road links.
