KATHMANDU: Traffic volume has increased across Kathmandu Valley on the twelfth day of Dashain this Friday. The streets, which remained largely quiet during the festival period, have seen a rise in movement as people travel to receive tika from elders.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, a significant number of people left the valley to celebrate Dashain this year. Data shows that 576,578 people departed from the valley between Ghatasthapana and Oct. 20. During this period, 79,676 vehicles were used to transport passengers out of the city, traffic officials reported.

Compared to the earlier days of the festival, there is a noticeable increase in public transport vehicles on the roads today. The rise in both vehicular traffic and pedestrians follows the resumption of movement as residents return to their routines and visit relatives for the ongoing festival celebrations.
