TU directs professors, staffs to report within 15 days

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s oldest university, Tribhuvan University (TU), has instructed professors and employees, who took study leave and failed to return to services even after completing the study, to come in contact within 15 days.

Issuing a public notice on Wednesday, the Study Leave Management and Implementation Committee at TU urged the professors and staffs, who have not returned to service after study leave and those quitting their services before stipulated time as per the University Rules, to contact the Committee’s office.

The notice clarified that legal action would be taken as per the agreements signed with university and its rules if they did not report within the deadline.

According to the TU, 50 such professors have made repayment totaling more than Rs 118.4 million so far. The TU has special facility of study leave with an objective of providing capable, research-oriented and international-level academic human resources.

Reminding that professors who use study leave scheme must fulfill their service obligations as per the agreement, the TU shared that the process of recovering the remaining amount would be continued.
