KAILALI: Sabitra Sapkota, a member of the CPN (UML) Sudurpaschim Provincial Advisory Committee, has passed away after being hit by a truck near the Muda Bridge in Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-1.
This morning, the scooter (Se 1-01-001 Kha) she was riding was hit near the Muda Bridge by a truck (Lu 1-01-010 Pa 0045) driven by 26-year-old Dinesh Giri of Bardghat, Nawalparasi(Bardaghat Susta West).
Leader Sapkota, who was critically injured, was rushed to Dododhara Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
According to Police Inspector Dambar Bista of the Area Police Office, Bauniya, truck driver Dinesh Giri was taken into custody from the border area of Bardagoriya and Lamki Chuha Municipality along the East-West Highway.
Leader Sapkota was also a CPN (UML) candidate for the post of Vice-Chairperson of Bardagoriya Rural Municipality in the 2017 local elections.
