KATHMANDU: CPN (UML), the Nepali Communist Party, and CPN (Masal) have signed a two-point agreement to form the government in Lumbini Province and collaborate on national political issues.
Party leaders KP Sharma Oli, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Mohan Bikram Singh signed the deal on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, CPN (UML) will retain the Chief Minister position.
Together, the three parties hold 43 seats (UML 29, NCP 13, and Janamorcha—the electoral front of CPN-Masal—1) in the 83-member assembly, crossing the 42-seat majority mark.
Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya is set to seek a vote of confidence on August 17.
