Various districts report number of people gone missing in Bhotekoshi flash flood

KATHMANDU: Numerous people from various districts have gone out of contact in the Bhotekoshi flash flood occurred in Rasuwa district on Wednesday morning.

Bara district has reported 15 persons missing since the devastating flood on Wednesday.

The families of those missing in the tragic incident have contacted district authority, according to chief district officer in Bara, Chhabi Raman Bhattarai. Some had gone to Rasuwa for works, while some for other purposes.

Number of people from Dhading district who went missing is 79. There is no information about their whereabouts till now. Nilkantha Municipality alone recorded the disappearance of 23 persons due to flash flood.
Seven people hailing from Gulmi district have gone missing in the devastating flood.

Khotang district also made public the number and names of its people who went out of contact since the flood. The District Police Office, Khotang said some district people had gone to Rasuwa for jobs while some for trade. Some even went to the districts adjoining Rasuwa for works.

Saptari district also shared that number of its people gone missing- 24. Three persons of the same family from Bodebarsain Municipality-8 of Saptari failed to get contacted with family members since the devastation.

So far, 55 persons from Gorkha are reported missing. Most of those missing or uncontactable are from Palungtar Municipality (31) of the district, according to assistant chief district officer Netra Prasad Sharma.
