KATHMANDU: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav held a meeting with Udo Eugen Volz, German Ambassador to Nepal, to discuss bilateral relations, development cooperation, disaster management and people-to-people ties.
During the meeting at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur, Yadav thanked the German government and people for their relief and financial assistance following the August 26 Bhote Koshi floods.
He said relations between Nepal and Germany had continued to strengthen since diplomatic ties were established in 1958, and appreciated Germany’s contributions to Nepal’s socioeconomic development, particularly in health, education, energy and institutional strengthening.
Volz expressed condolences over the loss of lives and property in the Rasuwa-Bhote Koshi region and voiced confidence in Nepal’s recovery.
He also informed Yadav that a high-level German delegation led by Bärbel Kofler, parliamentary state secretary at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, would visit Nepal to discuss potential support for post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation.
