KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has stated that the state must fulfill its obligations regarding the proper care of families, full medical treatment, and long-term rehabilitation of those injured during the Gen Z movement. Issuing a statement on the first anniversary of the movement, he described the event as a day marking a new awakening in Nepali history.
Lamichhane characterized the peaceful street protests by the younger generation as a clear rejection of traditional political styles. He noted that this generation, raised in the digital age with global awareness, seeks a future within the country and will no longer tolerate misrule.
Asserting that the movement was entirely spontaneous, he warned that no political party or leader should attempt to exploit it for narrow political gains. He stated, Time has placed us in a position to answer every question asked by young people on the streets yesterday, and it has reminded us that someone will stand up to demand answers from us tomorrow as well.
Lamichhane urged the public to continue providing constructive feedback and rigorous performance reviews. He emphasized that the narrative of despair must not be allowed to take root in the public psyche. We must all unite in this historic journey of transforming civic outrage into a force for nation-building, he said. He further expressed his firm resolve, stating that they would not deviate even an inch from the path of the rule of law, equitable prosperity, and national self-respect carved by that storm.
