KATHMANDU: WorldLink Communications Ltd, Nepal’s largest internet service provider, has contributed Rs 10.1 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support flood relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Keshav Nepal, handed over the cheque to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle on Tuesday. The company stated that the donation aims to support the government’s ongoing rescue and relief operations during this difficult period.
Despite the contribution, WorldLink has faced significant internal losses, with preliminary reports indicating damage to its infrastructure worth approximately Rs 35 million. The company emphasized that it prioritized humanitarian responsibility and national duty over commercial interests by providing this financial support.
During the handover ceremony, company officials stated, “It is our belief that when citizens are in trouble, we must stand with them even if we are affected ourselves. This support is not just a business activity but a responsibility toward the nation.”
Although floods and landslides disrupted road, electricity, and communication infrastructure, WorldLink successfully mobilized its technicians to restore network connectivity in the affected areas within three days.
