KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 14 individuals for allegedly engaging in indecent and unlawful activities in the Gaushala and Pingalasthan areas of Kathmandu. The group consists of 6 men and 8 women.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, the arrests were made following reports that the individuals were targeting domestic and foreign tourists as well as the general public. A team deployed from the Gaushala Police Circle conducted surveillance in the area before taking the suspects into custody.
Authorities stated that the individuals were accused of loitering in public spaces and streets, where they allegedly encouraged drug use and illicit sexual activities, harassed passersby, and engaged in disorderly conduct. Police reports further indicate that the suspects were acting as intermediaries for local dance bars, dohori restaurants, and clubs, where they reportedly instigated fights and engaged in immoral acts that disrupted public order.
Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Thapa, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, confirmed that the suspects are being investigated for disorderly conduct. The police have presented the individuals before the Kathmandu District Administration Office and secured a 6-day remand to continue the legal investigation.
