21 disaster incidents reported across Nepal, 8 injured

KATHMANDU: A total of 21 disaster-related incidents have been reported across Nepal over the past 24 hours, leaving eight people injured. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, these incidents occurred between the morning of Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Authority spokesperson Shanti Mahat stated that 165 police personnel have been deployed to carry out rescue, relief, and management operations. Security forces and relevant agencies are actively working in the affected areas.

The authority reported that snakebite incidents were the most frequent, totaling seven cases. Other incidents included five landslides, three floods, two fires, and two animal attacks. Additionally, one incident was attributed to continuous rainfall.

The disasters also resulted in the loss of two cattle, with preliminary estimates placing the total economic damage at approximately Rs 12,000. The authority has urged residents in high-risk areas to remain vigilant, noting the potential for further incidents. It has also advised the public to coordinate with local security agencies and municipal authorities for emergency response and rescue operations.
