KATHMANDU: Authorities have arrested 24 South Korean nationals in Morang for participating in religious training and activities while on tourist visas. The individuals were taken into custody at the Nepal New Covenant College, located in Sundarharaicha Municipality-7.
The group arrived in Nepal via Kathmandu and Biratnagar on Oct. 6 and 7. They were scheduled to remain in the district until Oct. 12. The college, which operates with the support of the Love Nepal Mission, offers religious education ranging from certificate levels to doctoral degrees.
Under existing legal provisions, foreign nationals visiting Nepal on tourist visas are prohibited from engaging in religious education, training, or proselytization activities. Officials stated that the group’s activities violated these visa conditions. The arrested individuals are set to be handed over to the immigration authorities for further processing.
