365 families in Dhanusha receive land ownership certificates after 11 years

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: A total of 365 families in Hansapur Municipality-5, Dhanusha, have received their land ownership certificates 11 years after the survey of their land was completed.

The local families, who had been residing on the land as squatters for a long period, have now formally acquired legal ownership of their properties. The Survey Office in Dhanusha distributed the documents after completing the necessary administrative procedures.

The land survey for the area was concluded in 2015. However, the distribution of ownership certificates was delayed for over a decade due to pending legal and administrative formalities. With the receipt of these certificates, the residents have secured legal rights over their land, which will provide them with significant economic benefits.

The families can now use their land as collateral for loans from banks and financial institutions. Furthermore, the formal recognition of ownership is expected to help resolve long-standing land disputes. Previously, 3,601 families in Dhanusha had been issued similar land ownership certificates.
