KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended Armed Police Force Additional Inspector General (AIG) Banshiraj Dahal on charges of leaking sensitive security information. The suspension follows a decision made by the ministry on Oct. 5.
The Armed Police Force had recommended action against AIG Dahal, alleging that he leaked sensitive information related to security, which is in violation of his professional conduct. Acting on this recommendation, the ministry has appointed an inquiry officer to investigate the incident.
The ministry has directed the appointed inquiry officer to complete the investigation and submit a report within three days. The ministry stated that further legal proceedings will be initiated based on the findings of the investigation.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized that all employees of civil and security agencies are required to adhere to professional conduct as per the law and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive security-related information.
