KATHMANDU: The Bhairahawa customs office has exceeded its revenue collection target for the first three months of the current fiscal year 2083/084. Against a target of Rs 29.28 billion for the period from mid-July to mid-October, the office collected over Rs 33.34 billion, reaching approximately 114 percent of its goal.
According to official data, revenue collection stood at Rs 8.83 billion in the first month, Rs 10.63 billion in the second, and Rs 13.88 billion in the third month. This performance marks a significant improvement compared to the same period last year, when the office achieved only 97.14 percent of its target.
Information officer Uddhav Dhungana attributed the growth to improved market conditions and increased imports of various goods. The office expects revenue to remain strong in the coming months due to increased economic activity during the festive season.
Petroleum products, vehicles, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and industrial raw materials remain the primary contributors to import revenue. Notably, electric vehicles have emerged as a significant source of revenue. On the export front, processed soybean oil has consistently maintained the top position for three consecutive months. Other major exports include grey cement, iron sheets, catechu, and herbs.
