KATHMANDU: The death toll from the Bhote Koshi flood has reached 1,377, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. Officials confirmed that as of Thursday evening, 1,377 bodies had been recovered from various flood-affected areas. Additionally, two people who were injured in the disaster died while undergoing treatment.
Data released by the authority indicates that the highest number of bodies, 364, were recovered in one area. Other recovery figures include 228 in Nawalparasi East, 222 in Nawalparasi West, 198 in Nuwakot, 178 in Rasuwa, 77 in Gorkha, 70 in Dhading, and 38 in Tanahun. So far, only 104 bodies have been identified and handed over to their respective families, while the identification process for others continues.
The disaster has left 5,130 people missing. Rasuwa reports the highest number of missing persons at 1,393. Furthermore, 1,286 people from various districts are missing from Rasuwa, while 651 locals and 1,936 people from other districts are reported missing from Nuwakot, the authority stated.
