KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML Central Committee has unanimously approved the political report presented by Chairman KP Sharma Oli. The meeting, held at Rambagh Palace in Bhanimandal, Lalitpur, also appointed new members to the Central Committee following the party’s 11th General Convention.
General Secretary Shankar Pokharel announced that former president and former party vice president Bidya Devi Bhandari has been nominated as a senior leader, securing the second rank in the party’s leadership hierarchy.
The committee also elected seven new members to the Standing Committee: Ishwor Pokharel, Pradeep Gyawali, Kashinath Adhikari, Devraj Ghimire, Shivamaya Tumvahamph, Lalbabu Pandit, and Thammaya Thapa. Additionally, several individuals were nominated as central members, including Kashinath Adhikari, Devraj Ghimire, Hari Rijal, Pasang Sherpa, Narendra Bhattarai, Nandaram Devkota, Dharma Giri, Narayan Gharti, Bidya Sundar Shakya, Shantilal Mahat, Polten Chhepang Gurung, Prem Dangal, Surendra Udas, Binod Pandey, Pushparaj Shrestha, Bimala Ghimire, Shivamaya Tumvahamph, Kaushila Khatri, Januka Simkhada, and Bina Bastola.
Concluding the session, Chairman Oli expressed his gratitude to the Central Committee members, highlighting the party’s high level of understanding and strong unity demonstrated during the proceedings. The Central Committee has delegated authority to the Secretariat meeting to finalize the remaining agenda items, including the completion of the Standing Committee, and the formation of the Politburo, Advisory Council, various departments, and the Senior Communist Forum.
