KATHMANDU: Bollywood actor Sonu Sood arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon to provide assistance to flood victims in Nepal.
Sood reached the capital alongside a team from his “Sood Charity Foundation” to assist flood-affected people with shelter, food, and reconstruction support. Representatives from the international organization Khalsa Aid welcomed him upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The actor’s visit follows a pledge he made on social media after heavy flooding from the Bhotekoshi River caused major damage in Rasuwa district on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Following the disaster, Sood promised to travel to Nepal with food, shelter materials, and reconstruction aid.
Sood gained wide prominence during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic when he funded transportation at his own expense to help stranded migrant workers in India return home during the lockdown.
The actor has appeared in more than 100 Indian films and is best known for playing antagonist roles in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada cinema.
