KATHMANDU: A Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah will attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled for Sept. 22-26. The decision to approve the visit was made during a cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said.
The cabinet also decided to form a Nepali negotiation team to participate in the upcoming Nepal-India Inter-Governmental Sub-Committee (IGSC) meeting in New Delhi. Furthermore, the meeting granted theoretical approval for the drafting of a bill aimed at controlling usury-related crimes.
Based on a proposal from the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, the cabinet approved a list of 17,438 impoverished households across 27 local levels in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Saptari and Dang districts.
The cabinet appointed Dr. Hari Prasad Lamsal as the chairperson of the Teachers Service Commission, with Ramsharan Sapkota and Bishnu Ghimire Rimal appointed as members. Additionally, joint secretaries Binod Bahadur Kunwar and Uttarkumar Khatri were promoted to the rank of secretary. Kunwar has been posted as the chief secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Lumbini Province, while Khatri has been assigned as the chief secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Sudurpashchim Province.
