KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki held a meeting at the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The discussion lasted for approximately 35 minutes.
The official agenda of the meeting has not been disclosed. However, sources indicated that the discussion centered on the recent detention of former Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana. Police had taken the former Chief Justice into custody on Sunday morning and released him after nearly 12 hours.
While the police have claimed that the detention was necessary for security reasons, the full court of the Supreme Court has characterized the action as arbitrary. IGP Karki visited the Supreme Court following the release of a statement by the full court regarding the incident.
