KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has decided to appoint former president Bidya Devi Bhandari as a senior leader of the party.
A leader participating in the ongoing central committee meeting confirmed that the decision to grant the position to Bhandari was made during the session.
Previously, the party secretariat meeting held on Thursday had decided to forward the proposal to appoint Bhandari as a senior leader to the central committee. Bhandari served two terms as the president of Nepal.
Prior to her presidency, she served as the vice-chairperson of the CPN-UML. Some time ago, her party membership renewal had been suspended under the instruction of party chairman KP Sharma Oli.
