KATHMANDU: Deepak Sah has been recommended for the position of Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies. Prime Minister Balen Shah has recommended Sah to the Office of the President for the appointment.
The recommendation follows the resignation of Industry Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav on Thursday. Yadav stepped down from her position earlier today following widespread criticism over her controversial remarks regarding industrialists. She had recently stated that gas supplies would not ease until industrialists were brought to justice, a comment that triggered significant public backlash.
Sah, the newly recommended minister, is a lawmaker elected from Sunsari constituency-4. An engineer by profession, he returned to Kathmandu from his constituency after it was confirmed he would be appointed to the cabinet. Sah joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party prior to the general election. Before joining the party, he was expelled from the Janamat Party led by CK Raut, after which he had formed his own political party.
