KATHMANDU: The Department of Customs has collected Rs 102 billion in revenue for the current fiscal year 2083/84 as of Aug. 6. The government has set an annual revenue collection target of Rs 628 billion for the fiscal year, leaving a remaining target of Rs 527 billion to be met.
The department noted that the revenue milestone was achieved despite significant operational challenges. The Tatopani Customs Office has been out of operation for some time, while the Rasuwa Customs Office remains fully damaged and non-operational due to floods in the Bhote Koshi river.
The department stated that the revenue collection was successful due to the collective efforts of the customs administration despite these difficult circumstances. According to the secretariat of the Ministry of Finance, the department will now focus its efforts on meeting the remaining revenue target.
