KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management has requested detailed information regarding physical and human losses caused by the Bhote Koshi flood on Aug. 26. The move follows a decision made during a meeting chaired by Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal on Aug. 26 to form a committee for damage assessment.
The committee is tasked with evaluating the impact of the disaster on the public transport sector, establishing criteria for compensation, and submitting a report with recommendations. To facilitate this process, the committee formally requested that government bodies, non-governmental organizations, media outlets, private institutions, researchers, and the general public submit their damage reports within seven days, following a decision made on Aug. 31.
Data can be submitted via the department’s email at [email protected]. Alternatively, written reports can be submitted directly to the department’s planning division. The committee has urged organizations to clearly identify themselves and provide the source of their data where possible.
