KATHMANDU: Former Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has issued an appeal addressing the internal disputes within the party and the issue of a special convention.

Expressing condolences to those affected by the recent floods in the Bhote Koshi region, Deuba urged everyone to rise above political considerations to focus on search, rescue, and relief efforts.

He also directed party members to assist in these efforts during this difficult time. Deuba expressed serious concern over the growing internal conflict, specifically criticizing the group attempting to hold an unauthorized special convention.

He stated, ‘It is evident that a group, acting against the party’s statutes, procedures, traditions, and Central Committee decisions, is attempting to move forward unilaterally by announcing a schedule for a so-called 15th general convention.’

He argued that proceeding with this convention while the matter remains sub judice at the Supreme Court is legally and politically inappropriate.

Deuba called upon party leaders and cadres to refrain from participating in the convention organized by this group. Clarifying that he has no personal desire for positions, he emphasized that it is his constitutional, political, and moral duty to complete the 15th general convention and hand over leadership as the legitimately elected president.

He urged all party members to remain united and focus on preparations for the upcoming convention scheduled for Dec. 7, 8, and 9.
