KATHMANDU: Eight people were injured in a jeep accident on the BP Highway in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-3, Ganeshthan, in Sindhuli on Wednesday morning.
The Scorpio jeep, bearing registration number Ba.Pra.01-031 Cha 9749, was travelling from Kavre to Ramechhap when it veered off the road and fell approximately 20 metres.
According to the District Police Office, Sindhuli, the injured individuals have been rescued and sent to a local hospital for treatment. The injured have been identified as Rom Bahadur Yonjan, 28, Mina Maya Tamang, 21, Durga Bahadur Yonjan, 56, Dhan Bahadur Yonjan, 43, Prem Yonjan, 45, Dinesh Yonjan, 30, Anil Yonjan, 20, and Tek Bahadur Thing, 52, all residents of Bethanchok Rural Municipality-1, Kavrepalanchok.
The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Narayan Basnet from Bethanchok Rural Municipality-3, Kavre, remained unhurt in the incident. Police have taken the driver into custody and are currently conducting further investigations into the cause of the accident.
