KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has taken the oath of office and secrecy as a member of the central secretariat and central committee of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane administered the oath to Shrestha ahead of the central secretariat meeting held on Sunday. General secretary Bipin Acharya was also present at the ceremony.
Minister Shrestha was elected as a central committee member during the party’s first general convention held in Chitwan last Ashar, securing 2,123 votes. Following his election, the central committee meeting held on Bhadra 5 decided to appoint him as a member of the central secretariat.
After taking the oath, Minister Shrestha pledged to fulfill his responsibilities with integrity. He stated, “I express my commitment to fulfilling my responsibilities and duties with integrity while embracing the support, cooperation, coordination, and suggestions of everyone.” He further expressed his gratitude to the party members for electing him to the central committee with more than two-thirds of the votes.
