KATHMANDU: Both houses of the federal parliament are scheduled to meet today, Monday. According to the parliament secretariat, the House of Representatives meeting is set for 1 p.m. at Singha Durbar.
During the session, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal will read out the letter regarding the authentication of bills received from the Office of the President.
Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi is expected to present a proposal to send the ‘Children-related (First Amendment) Bill, 2083’ to the relevant committee for clause-wise discussion. Additionally, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, on behalf of Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Balen Shah, will present a proposal to pass the ‘National Service Corps Bill, 2083’.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly meeting, scheduled for 1:15 p.m., includes a session where Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary will respond to oral questions related to her ministry. Minister Chaudhary is also slated to present a proposal to pass the ‘Infectious Animal Disease (Control) Bill, 2083’.
In addition to the parliamentary sessions, three parliamentary committees-Law, Justice and Human Rights; Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Infrastructure Development-are also scheduled to hold meetings today.
