KATHMANDU: The Nepal Film Society and the Nepal Film Artists Association, America chapter, have provided financial assistance for the relief, rescue, and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the Bhote Koshi river floods in Rasuwa.
A cheque for Rs 333,333, led by Nepal Film Society president Krishna Malla, was handed over to Minister for Information and Communications Dr. Bikram Timilsina to be deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. Similarly, Nepal Film Artists Association, America chapter, president Dinesh Karki and artist Manoj Acharya handed over a voucher for Rs 150,000 to Minister Timilsina. The total contribution from both organizations amounts to Rs 483,333 for the flood victims.
The handover ceremony was attended by Nepal Film Artists Association president Uttam KC, outgoing president Mohan Niraula, former president Rabindra Khadka, and artist Sharmila Malla.
During the event, Minister Timilsina expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the film fraternity during the disaster. He stated that the government has prioritized relief and rehabilitation for the flood victims. He further added that the government is prepared to collaborate for the development and promotion of the Nepali film industry, noting that there are plans to move forward with policy, legal, and economic reforms to develop the film sector as an industry.
