KATHMANDU: Acting Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle bid farewell to Prime Minister Balendra Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers before the Prime Minister’s departure for the United States.
The Prime Minister is traveling to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly. During the meeting, Wagle presented Shah with a copy of Paul Kennedy’s book, ‘The Rise and Fall of Great Powers,’ for his study during the trip.
Prime Minister Shah departed on a flight at 7:12 pm on Tuesday. He is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly on Asoj 8 and is expected to return to Nepal on Asoj 10.
President Ram Chandra Poudel, acting on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shah, has appointed Finance Minister Wagle as the acting Prime Minister during the duration of the visit. Wagle will also oversee the Ministry of Defense, which is currently held by the Prime Minister.
Additionally, following the departure of Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal for the United States on Monday, the Prime Minister assigned the responsibilities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Wagle as well.
