KATHMANDU: Former chief justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has been released from police custody. Rana, who was taken from his residence in the middle of the night, was released without authorities disclosing the reason for his arrest.
SP Rameshwor Karki, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, confirmed that Rana has been handed over to his family. ‘He is going home, preparations are being made to send him,’ Karki said. Sources indicated that the arrest was made following a direct order from the secretariat of Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
