KATHMANDU: Guru Rinpoche has donated Rs 15 million to support rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts for citizens affected by the devastating floods in the Bhote Koshi river.
Guru Rinpoche handed over the cheque to Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, at the ministry on Thursday. The funds will be deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief and Rescue Fund.
The handover ceremony was also attended by Prakash Chandra Pariyar, whip of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). During the event, Guru Rinpoche also presented his book, ‘Joy of Life’, to Minister Pokharel.
Guru Rinpoche stated that the contribution was made to support relief and rehabilitation initiatives following the loss of life and property caused by floods in regions including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan.
